Dear Tennis Supporter:
Thanks to you, we did it!! Hopefully you remember the safe place you put the original of your Commitment to Purchase and attached receipt for your Alabama Tennis Foundation License Plate. You must have both of these in order to pick up your license plate at your county DMV. Nothing else will be accepted.
Your generosity has ensured that there will be funds going to the Alabama Tennis Foundation that will grow tennis all over the State for years to come. It will be used to help kids and adults learn a lifetime sport, assist deserving juniors with tournament expenses, help refurbish courts, aid Community Tennis Associations and Park and Recreation Departments, buy tennis equipment, and match available grants to name just a few things.
The following is correct to the best of our knowledge, but the final authority will be your own county DMV so please consult them with any questions you might have. Some have a small charge to switch out plates prior to your renewal month, etc.
The pre-numbered tags are scheduled to be available July 1st, but delays are possible. Please call your DMV beforehand just in case. If you can stand the suspense it is best to wait until your renewal month, especially if it is only a few months away, so you don’t have to pay the $50 specialty tag fee again since that is paid each time the tag is renewed. Remember that $41 of that is tax-deductible.
The $50 cost of your plate includes personalization if you so choose and can consist of up to five characters. Personalization is available the same date that the plates are available to be purchased in the county tag offices. To reserve what you would want on your plate you can pay $2.00 online and it will be held for five days until you can get to your DMV to order, or you can go to your DMV and they can check availability for you for no charge and you can order at that time. The web site is www.revenue.alabama.gov. Go to Motor Vehicle Division and under E-services there is a drop-down box that says “Search or Reserve Personalized Tag Message”. Personalized tags are generally mailed to the owner’s mailing address. You will use a paper 60-day temporary tag until you receive your tennis plate.
As soon as we know the plates are available we will get the word out on the USTA Alabama web site, www.alabamata.com, so starting Augustst you should start checking. "and don't forget to take your old plate in with you when you go"
Thank you again for making this possible!
